Bollywood Hottest Hair Trends Style of Year 2010

Aishwarya Rai Hair Style
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – Get the look
Let’s begin your hair style lesson of the season with the big ‘A’ of Bollywood divas – the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai. She was spotted at the 2010 GQ Men of the Year awards in loose wavy locks. For someone who always flaunts straight hair or a chic updo, this hair style was a fresh take. We love how easy it is to achieve this look for the party season; all you have to do is keep your hair on one side and let it be its natural best.

“Short hair is definitely out. The idea is to create a dressy look for your hair,” says hair stylist Sylvia Chen of Butterfly Pond, Mumbai. Piggy chops who was famous for her short bob last year has let her hair grow. It seems like she is fond of red highlights. “Highlights are less in vogue but dark colours like ebony or those from the red family (deep red, strawberry) which add shine to your hair and give a richer look are in. The idea here is to use cool tones,” adds Sylvia.

Shruti Hassan – Curly does it
Another actress who proved that the bouncy curly look is in. We spotted the actress in her straight look earlier and now she too has plunged into the trend of a fuller, curly and bouncy look. Need we say that her new hair makes the world of a difference to her style?

Bipasha Basu – Rocks the bob
“Bobs are still in but not short bobs. The trend now is to grow it out or big bobs with fringes are also in fashion,” says Sylvia. Bipasha Basu, for instance, carries her long bob very well. Her highlights only add to the look. “If you plan to highlight your hair, the key is to use dark and rich colours on the outer strands and lighter colours inside. This is called interior colouring. The benefit is that re-growth doesn’t show so much and fading of colour is less visible since the lighter colours are inside,” adds Sylvia

Deepika Padukone – A ‘Break’ from limp hair
The straight poker look is surely not in vogue. Dressy hair including a notch or even a double-notch is the trend. Actresses try to make their hair look fuller or bouncier. You can spot how Deepika Padukone shifted from her straight and (limp) look to the bouncy, blow-dried movie star hair. “It’s all got to do with dressing the hair and making it look fuller,” says Sylvia.

Anushka Sharma – Keeping it natural
The Rab ne banadi Jodi actress, Anushka Sharma had long straight hair when she joined Bollywood last year. But the actress sports the layered look now and it has added volume to her hair. “If you are heading out for a casual get-together or party, it’s better to spot a natural look. The trend is to keep it looking effortless and wavy,” explains Sylvia.
Kareena and Katrina
Kareena and Katrina – The odd ones out
Two actresses who have stuck to their signature hair style for as long as we can remember are -  Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. Kareena refuses to part with her straight looks since her Refugee days (2000). Katrina has been spotted in straight hair since she debuted with Boom (2003). While we agree that these divas can carry their hair style gracefully, we suggest they get a little more experimental to ward off the fashion police (evil grin)!
